7 Easy Dog Training Methods You Can Follow at Home
Owning a dog has been the dream of many people for a long time. After having it, many owners are confused about how to train this 4-legged animal. Sometimes, we get irritated because dog training keep being naughty and not being obedient.
That’s why, owners need to train their dogs properly. Starting from teaching him tricks to methods of defecation so that it is not careless. Follow the trick here!

1. Give the command “sit”
For the Cesars Way page, these are basic obedience commands that are easy to teach. Start by bringing the treats to the dog’s nose, then move your hands up. The dog’s head will automatically follow the movement of our hands and make his butt drop to the floor.
When the dog is in a sitting position, say “sit” and share treats and affectionate caresses. Repeat this command every day until the dog understands it.
2. Give the command “come” or “come here”
Want a dog to come to you when you call him? First, show a treat you really like, then walk a few steps while calling the dog’s name and saying “come” in a friendly and fun voice, advises the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) on its official page.
When the dog comes to you, pet it gently and give him his favorite treat. Gradually increase the distance from the dog while always giving the same command.
Practice the “come” command indoors first, then try it outdoors. Don’t forget to give compliments like “good boy” or “good girl” if the dog is successful, OK!
3. Give the command “down” or “sleep”
Compared to the first 2 commands, the “down” command can be a bit more difficult. To do this, prepare a snack and hold it in closed hands. Then, bring your hand to the dog’s muzzle and allow him to sniff it.
When the dog sniffs, move your hand to the floor so that he follows it. After the dog has lowered itself, say “down” and share treats and affectionate caresses. However, if the dog tries to sit up or jumps on your hand, say “number” out loud.
The “down” command is useful for keeping dogs calm and relaxed, especially for dogs that are anxious or frightened, says the Cesars Way page.
4. Give the order “stay” to stay in place
To practice the “stay” command, the dog must first understand the “sit” command. First, ask the dog to sit down, then open your palms in front of the dog while saying “stay” and take a few steps back.
If the dog is obedient, give treats and affectionate caresses. Follow this command over and over again until the dog understands. The “stay” command is a form of self-control exercise for dogs. Because, the dog was ordered to stay in place and patiently wait.
5. Give the command “leave it” to leave something
Your dog seems curious about something, but could it seem risky? The “leave it” command can be used! The trick, place the candy in both hands, then show a fist with the candy in it and say “leave it”.
It may be that the dog does not immediately obey and even tries to lick, sniff, scratch, or bark to get the treat. We pretty much ignore his behavior.
When the dog has finished, give a snack from the other hand. Follow this command over and over again until the dog really understands it. We are considered successful if the dog does not repeatedly avoid when the command “leave it” is spoken.
6. Practice potty training so dogs don’t defecate
Annoyed that your dog defecates in the house and creates an unpleasant odor? Practicing potty training from an early age is the solution!
Prepare a special mat for the dog to defecate. Pay attention to the dog’s “crazy” cues, such as sniffing, circling, barking, whining, or scratching at the door.
If the dog behaves in this way, clap loudly to warn that the dog has done something wrong. After that, lead or take the dog to a special mat to defecate. If the dog succeeds in obeying it, give it praise, treats, and loving caresses.
7. Give the command “high five” to high five with our hands
When the dog does something great, celebrate with a high five or high five. Do this trick in a quiet place and free of obstacles. Don’t forget to serve his favorite delicious snack, such as a slice of bacon or a small piece of cheese.
Put a snack in your hand and make a fist. Then, place your fist in front of the dog’s nose. Wait until he can’t stand it and his hand reaches ours, then say “high five”. If successful, give a snack as a gift and repeat up to 5-10 times.
